What will we have?

Sundays we have daytime hours to come pick your own flowers!
What to wear?
We suggest clothing suitable for wet and muddy conditions. You do not want to ruin your best shoes and pants! We recommend close toed shoes while walking around the farm.
How do I cut flowers?
- Ask us for a demonstration! We are happy to share our flower cutting magic with you!
- Remove the leaves
- In order to keep your freshly cut flowers & foliage happy it is best to remove half the leaves on the stem. This reduces evaporation from the flower and keeps the water clean for the flowers to drink up the water.
- Only use scissors to cut flowers or foliage.
- DAHLIA: Dahlias do not bloom much after they are cut, so you want to choose a well-flowered flower with a nice shape and therefore no buds.
- DAHLIA: When harvesting dahlias, you want a nice and long stem, but without cutting off too much of the plant. You should cut just above a pair of leaves as close as possible to the growth point where the stems meet, often there are three stems next to each other. Choose a flower that looks bruised but has not started to wilt or wilt in the petals on the back of the flower.
What flowers do we have?
We will be posting videos on Fridays updating you about what is blooming in the field. Week 34 we have 4 types of dahlias blooming but expect 36 more varieties to come up in the weeks to come!
Why? What is the story?
This year has been a bit of a rollercoaster with wet conditions. We have not wanted to open the farm till we had enough to offer and provide a bit of flower magic! So now we are now officially open for self-pick events on Saturdays at sunset & Sunday afternoons.
Why Saturday at sunset?
Mathias & I were living in Seattle, Washington USA during the COVID-19 pandemic. We were quarantined for 2 years at home with our 2 cats Carrie & Angus. During this time we started going to friends’ backyards and enjoying an evening around the firepit. At the time, it was a way to socialize and follow social distancing regulations. Now we continue this tradition and enjoy campfire evenings.
Need a fun outing with the family, friends, or maybe a date night? Come pick some flowers, enjoy a cozy campfire atmosphere & some roasted marshmallows!
